The Combating Multidrug-Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria in Africa through Diagnostic and Antimicrobial Stewardship (ComBac-Africa) consortium connects African and European researchers from twelve institutions in seven countries with a common goal: to address the growing threat of multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria (MDR GNB), which pose a severe risk to human, animal, and environmental health.

The project brings together experts from multiple disciplines, including microbiology and laboratory sciences, clinical infectious diseases, molecular biology, bioinformatics, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and One Health expertise.

ComBac-Africa is led by project coordinator Prof Sören Becker from Saarland University (USAAR), scientific project lead Prof Aaron Aboderin from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and managed by LINQ management GmbH (LINQ).
